Since I’m away on vacation relaxing and heading to the beach, I thought it would only be right to get you set up to head to the beach yourselves.  Gracie B from Betwixxt is here to show you how to make your own Beach Bag.  Squeal!   The best part is that she’s making it from a bath towel.  So fun, easy and cute!

DIY Beach Bag

It’s Summer! In these super hot summer months most of us will flock to cool water, be it the beach or the pool. And along with those family trips to the beach comes sandy wet clothes, towels and various bottles of sunblock. Here is a quick and easy terry cloth beach bag. So once your home from the beach you can just throw it and all those gross wet clothes right in the wash.
Supplies
Bath Towel in a fun color or pattern
2 yards of webbing
Sewing Machine
Scissors
White Thread
1.On the short sides of the towel measure 5 inches in and 3 inches down on each side and pin the webbing. Sew in a box stitch to secure and create the handles.
2.Fold towel in half lengthwise. Placing right sides (what will be the outsides) together. Pin along the side seams.
2. Using a zig zag stitch start and the fold about 3 inches in and sew through both layers in a straight line.
3. Repeat on the other side.
4. Turn Right side out and your all done and ready for the beach.
This bag is one I have been making for years for various friends and trips to the beach. It holds so much and makes a perfect gift. I hope you enjoyed my little DIY. Hop on over and visit my little corner of the world. Hope to meet you soon.
xoxo

Great colors and post! I think I (the non-sewing type) can make one as my FIRST sewing machine project… Thanks for sharing.

    There is nothing like a beautiful day at the beach, the sand, surf and the rays of the sun beating down on your body. Beach visits have been popular with people of all ages, and are as much of a family activity as they are an individual excursion. No beach visit is complete without spending some timer relaxing on the beach with some suntan lotion on and getting that perfect tan. ;

You sew 3 inch seams on each side? Did you trim you seams or just leave them? Why such large seams?

    • Brenda

I was wondering the same thing about the 3 inch seams. I’m not sure what the purpose is. I was thinking it might be to insure strength in the bag. I would probably want to tack them down someway. It seems like 3 inches on each side might take quite a bit of room away from the bag. But I am not the creator or the expert. Still a very nice bag and gift for someone.

Love the beach towel bag! Just curious if there is a reason for putting the webbing handles on the outside of the bag? I’m thinking it might have a more ‘finished’ look if they were on the inside. Just my opinion…

With havin so much content do you ever run into any issues
of plagorism or copyright violation? My blog has a lot of unique congent I’ve either authored myself
or outsourced but it looks like a lot off it is popping it up all over the
webb without my permission. Do you know any methods to help protect against content
from being ripped off? I’d certainly appreciate it.
