There’s nothing I love more than involving Riley in a holiday.  Her enthusiasm makes everything that much more fun, which is why I put together a Valentine Calendar Countdown.  The calendar includes toddler activities that promote our families loving relationship.

Valentine Calendar Countdown

Valentine Countdown

A toddler inspired Valentine Calendar Countdown.

Riley loved our Christmas Countdown Calendar that it only seemed fitting that I make one for Valentine’s Day.  Every morning Riley would come downstairs and eagerly remind me that we needed to open our envelope before we left for daycare and school.  I reused the poster board from our Christmas Countdown Calendar because it worked so well for Valentine’s Day with the red ribbon and sheet music scrapbook paper.  For the “clothesline” I used red baker’s twine, which has become a favorite supply of mine to incorporate into my projects.

Valentine Countdown Supplies

The supplies for the Valentine Number Cards were: clothespins covered with Adhesive Ribbon Tape, Red Glitter Cardstock cut by an XL Circle Scallop Punch, Hot Pink Cardstock cut by a Heart Punch and White Lace Ribbon cut into 2 inch strips.  You need to hot glue the white lace ribbon onto the scalloped glitter cardstock and then add the pink heart cardstock.

I added numbers to the hearts and then moved on to my favorite part.  I added our toddler activities to the back of each card using a mini post-it.  Our activities were simple for the work week and incorporated special events that were already scheduled.

Valentine Countdown Activity

Some of our activities included giving hugs to mommy and daddy, making valentines for Riley’s daycare friends, building a Build A Bear with daddy, planning a special dinner menu for Valentine’s Day and making Valentine crafts.

    So stinkin’ cute!

Thank you! Riley loved the Christmas one so I thought I should do one again. How are you feeling?

  • Jenna

What a great idea! My grandson had so much fun doing our felt Advent calendar for Christmas. Just one felt ornament per day stuck on the tree with velcro. He liked it better than the Advent calendar he had at home that gave him a chocolate every day! I might have to make this Valentine version for him! Thanks!

The best part is I get extra hugs out of the activity because I threw that in as something and she does what the calendar asks. Otherwise, I’d have to try to steal one when her bossy self is in the mood. Lol! I’m glad you liked it!

Jenny, that is an adorable idea. Riley is going to love it.

  • Taryn @ Design, Dining + Diapers

This is really sweet! What a fun way to count down the days. I love the “give hugs to mommy and daddy” idea. Love those :)

Thanks so much Taryn! It makes the holiday that much more fun.

  • Randi - Dukes and Duchesses

    Such a cute idea!

  • Jocelyn @ Sunshine, Lollipops, and Rainbows

Aw, this is so cute! I love making the most of each holiday, and this would be really fun for Valentine’s day. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks so much Jocelyn. Everything is that much better when you have a little one to share it with.

That’s adorable! My 2-year old had so much fun with our Christmas Countdown/advent that on the day after Christmas he asked to do it…he was so sad when he figured out that it was all done. I love the idea of having other countdowns too–he and his big sister would love it!!

Very cute way to count down!

  • Brittany @ Crafty Mischief

What a fun idea! My kids love advent calenders. I found you at Craftomaniac. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks so much for stopping by Brittany. We were huge fans of our advent calendar too.

  • Trish @ Uncommon

This is adorable, Jenny! Hope you have been well!

    Take care,
