I can remember waiting well into May when we lived in NY before ever thinking about spring cleaning our backyard space. Living in the south has changed all that.  We were out on the lake in February!  Since we are able to be outside so much more, our backyard has become an extension of our home so we need to get it spring clean ready and what better way to do it than with Strawberry Spring Spritzers.

Strawberry Spring Spritzers Recipe

Ingredients:

1 pound strawberries chopped

1 cup sugar

1 cup water

1/4 cup lemon juice

1 bottle champagne

Directions:

In a saucepan combine the strawberries, sugar and one cup of water over high heat.  Bring to a boil and then lower to medium low heat and simmer until the strawberries are soft and breaking down.

Pour the strawberry mixture through a sieve and extract as much as the liquid as possible.  Pour the lemon juice in and place in the refrigerator to cool.

Just before serving add a 1/4 of the strawberry mixture to each champagne flute and fill with champagne.  Garnish with a fresh strawberry.

My girls look forward to playing in our backyard everyday.  For the majority of the winter months, they were able to get out there. As you probably can see, there’s fresh chalk drawing on the swing set.  You probably also can tell that our grass isn’t in the best of shape.  Between the girls running around doing cartwheels, round offs and splits, it has definitely taken a beating this winter.

Plus, with the addition of the new trampoline the grass hasn’t quite recovered from the building of it.

And let’s not even get into this monster.  Whether he’s chasing a ball like he’s after a loose sheep or digging a hole to who knows where, he’s definitely done his fair share of damage to the yard.  We swear he’s digging a hole under the fence as if he’s trying to escape.

One of the main reasons we chose this house when we moved down south was because of the backyard space.  We loved that we had the fenced in backyard.  Plus, the deck overlooking the yard makes it easy for us to keep an eye on the crazy that is happening in the yard.  One of my husband’s pet peeves is the grass though.  He hates all the mud spots and wants nothing more than a lawn that looks like it belongs on a golf course.  That brings me to the first step, killing the weeds.

Luckily, Roundup® For Lawns will make it easy for our first step to have the lawn that we truly want.  Roundup is the #1 weed killing brand and the new Roundup For Lawns product has variations specific to the northern or southern region that you live in, which is key for us since we live in the south and clearly have sensitive southern grass.  The southern formula is specifically formulated for our grass.  Roundup for Lawns kills the weeds, not the lawn.  For more information be sure to check out Roundup for lawns Youtube channel.
