How to make Caprese Burger
I wish I could take the credit for the actual hamburger patty, but that is all my husband. Not only is he a pro on the grill, but he has a great palette when it comes to combining the right spices.
For these patties we used a pound of ground beef that was 80/20 because when you're eating a burger it's just tastier that way. He combined 2 tablespoons of garlic powder, 1 teaspoon salt, ½ teaspoon pepper. This made four good size burgers.
I had my husband throw the buns on the grill to toast them so that the balsamic glaze did not ruin the bun as soon as it was applied to the burger.
To assemble the burger I placed two slice of fresh mozzarella on top of the burger, which melted the cheese into place. I then added two slices of tomatoes from our garden and three leaves of basil from Riley's herb garden.
The finishing touch was a sprinkle of balsamic glaze on top. Absolute perfection!
Tips and Tricks:
- Toasting the buns on the grill or in a toaster oven will add a crispy texture and help prevent them from getting soggy from the toppings.
- A good balsamic glaze can really take a Caprese burger to the next level. Look for one with a thick, syrupy consistency and a rich, tangy flavor.
- While Caprese burgers are delicious on their own, you can also experiment with additional toppings to customize them to your taste. Some ideas include arugula, red onion, or even avocado.
- Once the burgers are cooked, allow them to rest for a few minutes before assembling the burger. This will allow the juices to redistribute, resulting in a more flavorful and juicy burger.
