By now you have to realize my affinity for creating handmade gifts in jars this holiday season. Whether it’s a Sugar Scrub, an Apple Pie, a Christmas Cookie Recipe, Hot Fudge Sauce or Peppermint Cupcakes, I just can’t get enough of creating the perfect stocking stuffers. I definitely outdid myself with these perfectly packaged Minty Stocking Stuffer Ideas. They are going to put you over the top with their snowman jelly jar packaging and perfect top hats.
Minty Stocking Stuffer Ideas
The supplies needed for these stocking stuffers are minimal, which is a huge plus this time of year. You’ll need Wrigley’s Extra Spearmint Gum, a 4 oz jelly jar, googley eyes, hot glue, double sided tape, a toilet paper roll cut in half, ribbon to cover the toilet paper roll and a 1 3/4 inch cardstock circle cut out to cover the top of the toilet paper roll. I promise that you don’t even need to have a bit of crafty in your pinky in order to pull this off. Plus, these will come together in under five minutes.
The star of this project is the Extra Gum, which you can find at your local Walmart in the check out aisle. Wrigley’s makes Extra Gum in polar ice and peppermint as well, but I loved the green color of the wrapper for my top hats. You would just need to adjust your ribbon according to your gum package colors.
To start out you’ll want to cover your half of the paper toilet roll in ribbon. I used 2″ satin ribbon to give it a top hat feel. I used double sided tape to fasten the ribbon and the 1 3/4″ circle cutout to the top of the toilet paper roll. The Extra Gum you will use as the brim of your hat on top of the jelly jar.
You will hot glue the googley eyes to the jelly jar and use double sided tape to fasten the top portion of the hat to the gum. I also used double sided tape to fasten the gum to the top of the jelly jar to keep the hat in place. The final step is to add a sweet treat to the jar. I used peppermint candies because who doesn’t like peppermint candies?
