I officially received my letter to report back to school last week. We go back September 4th and the students start the 7th. Over the weekend I completed my back to school crafts. I was inspired by my Back to School Centerpiece to continue the pencil with colorful erasers theme. I wanted something for the front door and loved the Color Pencil Wreath by Tangled Up Teaching. I loved that she used ribbon to tie it all together. My favorite part of my wreath is definitely the smell of the erasers. When my hairdresser came over to do my hair, she even noticed the distinct smell of the erasers.
The wreath was very simple to make. I started out by cutting a piece of cardboard into a disk shape.
I then hot glued the edge of the pencils down along the disk.
To help secure the pencils and to hide the disk I wove a piece of ribbon through the pencils.
I simply tied a knot at the end where the two pieces met and hot glued the ends down. The final step was to take another piece of ribbon and tie it around the outside so that it could be used to hand on our front door.
The school bus was the final piece and definitely finished the wreath because the cardboard was fully hidden by it. I hot glued the bus down as well and it was a wood piece that I picked up from Hobby Lobby already fully painted.
