Countdown to Christmas Calendar

There’s nothing more than I love than the holiday season.  It’s so much fun now that Riley gets so excited.  She spent the wee hours of Thanksgiving morning on the lookout for Christmas lights as we drove down to Virginia.  She’d get to so happy every time that she saw a twinkling light.  After seeing a ton of countdowns to Christmas on Pinterest, I decided it was time for us to create ours.

I originally thought I would center it on a framed mirror by our front door, but changed my mind for a sturdier centerpiece.  I created the background centerpiece from a piece of foam board that was originally Riley’s Potty Chart.  I centered two pieces of scrapbook paper after seeing Amy’s Pottery Barn Candle Knockoff.  I used scrapbook paper and an Origami Gift Card Envelope Tutorial on Youtube to make the envelopes.  I created number tags using card stock and two different size paper punches, which by the way I would take one of every shape and size under my Christmas tree. {Thank you Santa!}  The final step was putting together ideas for holiday fun.  I tried to keep the activities simple during the week for after work and I was able to use big events like Riley’s birthday party, our shared birthday cake on December 4th and the finding out of the sex of baby #2.

I strung twine across the background centerpiece and used clothespins to hang the envelopes filled with our activities.  The best part is that Riley gets to open the first one the day of her birthday.  Even more reason to celebrate!
