Hi NY Melrose Family readers! It’s Christy here from Confessions of a Serial Do-it-Yourselfer, back with a simple table update. I love a good makeover, and nothing makes me happier than finding a piece that needs a little TLC to work my magic on!
Entry Table with Fabric Inlay
I was recently shopping estate sales with my Mom, and just when our day was starting to look like a bust, we came upon the last estate sale of the day. I found two pieces at that sale, and this was one of them:
It was sitting in the entry way just waiting for me to get there. The top was not in the best shape. It almost looked like water or weather damage:
No worries, this was getting a sweet new paint job:
I painted this little table using my go-to chalk paint recipe (no sanding required). It still needed something though, and those panels were calling out for some of my favorite fabric!
I found this fabric at Hancock Fabrics and have used it on several projects.
I cut the panels using my rotary cutter and cutting mat. I applied the fabric using Mod Podge like a glue…
I brushed the Mod Podge on the table panel, then attached the fabric. You can add another coat of Mod Podge over top if you like, but it may alter the color of the fabric some. I chose not to add a coat on top.
I’m really pleased with how this turned out, especially because it was only $20! Hope you like it too!

You won’t believe what these pieces looked like before!
