Have I mentioned my love of washi tape yet? I’m pretty sure I have because I can’t seem to get enough. I’ve used it on a birdhouse and a tile photo. I felt I needed a little something more patriotic on my mantle so I made a patriotic washi tape mason jar candle. So simple!
I started off with this cute mason jar candle that I found at my mom’s house when we did our first clean out of her backroom. I swear the woman must have had thirty five different types of candles back there. She doesn’t know it yet, but I’m planning on getting back there again this summer now that the air conditioning is hooked up. I need to really put my organizational skills to the test. Plus, I want to refinish her cabinets. Don’t let her know though because she’s not going to be pleased. My mom’s backroom is kind of like that episode from Friends where Chandler finds Monica’s closet of disarray. My mom is so organized everywhere else that there had to be an overflow somewhere. Alright, so back to the candle. It’s key lime pie and smells great, but needed a little flair.
I simply used washi tape vertically down the glass mason jar. I knew better than to try to wrap it around horizontally after my disaster with the washi tape on my patriotic tea light, which I fixed by using ribbon around the tea light. I love the way the light glows through the washi tape and illuminates the design on the tape. I feel like my mantle is now complete.
