Riley’s R Plaque
My pinning is getting a little out of control lately. I even asked my sister what theme she was thinking of for my nephew’s second birthday, which isn’t until August! She seriously thought I was nuts. So, I’m finding inspiration in others to apply to my crafting. I recently saw two different pins that transformed letter plaques into beautiful works of art. I started out with a simple R from Hobby Lobby that I paid 2.99 for, which is in a simple white paint.
I decided to use tissue paper to cover the letter. I used mod podge to attach a soft purple tissue paper.
Next, I cut up pieces of a poetry book that had multiple poems about love in it. I also cut up leftover textured pieces of paper that I had used in gifts for my wedding party five year ago. I strategiccaly placed them with mod podge over the tissue paper.
The final addition was a ribbon that I wrapped around different places of the R.
Here’s a close up of an Emily Dickinson poem that was placed in the upper right hand quarter of the R.
I loved it with the decor of her room. When I was pregnant with Riley I had stenciled the butterflies onto the wall, but I always wanted something centered above the crib. Riley found it at Hobby Lobby and yelled out “R for Riley!” So I couldn’t resist.
Somebody likes her new R!
Just in case anyone is wondering the purple hippo pillow that she is standing on is from Buy Buy Baby. The pillow comes in multiple animals. It is super soft and would make a great playmat for a newborn. Riley sleeps with hers every night. Thank you nanna and poppa.
