Frankenstein Halloween Treats

Now that it is October, I am so excited to start sharing some of our Halloween ideas.  Riley's preschool only allows packaged items to be brought in, which broke my heart last year because I was super excited to make one of the gorgeous Halloween Desserts.

I refused to just purchase a package of Halloween Oreos though so I created my Pumpkin Fruit Cups which I absolutely loved.  They are super cute and so easy to make, but I have to admit that I actually like this Frankenstein Halloween Treats so much better!

I'm pretty sure that the boys in Riley's class will appreciate that they're not so girly too.  We all know that most of my creations have a girly touch to them.

The materials needed for these are easy to find at any local craft store and grocery store.  The fruit cups are Dole pineapples in lime gel, which is, of course, the perfect color for Frankenstein.  You'll also need googley eyes, permanent marker, black pom-poms and black feathers.

You'll need to draw the mouth with a black permanent marker.  Before trying to write on the fruit cup, be sure to dry any condensation on the cup that might have occurred once you took the cup out of the refrigerator to decorate it.  If you don't wipe the fruit cup down, your marker will not write well and is likely to smudge.  I glued on the googley eyes with hot glue, which is my go-to adhesive as you might remember from my Witch Hat Hair Clips.

Next, I simply hot glued black sparkly pom-poms to the sides of the cup to look like Frankenstein's neck bolts.  I couldn't just buy black pom poms.  I had to get a little girly touch in.  What's a girl to do?!  The final step was hot gluing the feathers to the top of the cups.  You need to be careful with this step because you are likely to burn your fingerprints right off of your fingers if you're not careful.  I just love them!  Don't you?
