Halloween Crafts: Witch Themed

One of my absolute favorite holidays to decorate for is Halloween.  I don't use typical colors though.  I like to add purple into the mix to make it little bit more girly because we're all about the girly at our house.  We also love Halloween Crafts that are witch themed because we don't want anything too scary and witches seem to give the decor a touch of whimsy.  Our witch planter and matching garden flag make me squeal with girly delight.  I mean honestly, who wouldn't love a witches hat made from a tutu!

Our witches hat is a cinch to put together, especially with garden items on clearance right now.  We used the planter from our toddler herb garden, which you might have seen didn't get the attention it needed this summer because of our gardener snake issues.  You'll get a laugh out of our little problem and you can read all about it here.  I picked up our planter at the end of garden season from Lowes two years ago because I was inspired to create my Christmas Tree Planter.  I sprayed it with two coats of Glitter Blast Glitter Spray and let it sit for two days so that I could add the tutu to make the brim of the hat.

The brim of our hat is definitely my favorite part of this Halloween craft.  I love working with tulle because there's just something light and airy about it.  I wrapped my elastic around the outside of the planter to see how wide I was going to need the elastic.  I then created a tutu just like my Infant Tutu.  The only difference was that I simply tied a know in the end of the elastic rather than hot gluing it together.  The tutu for the planter did not need to have a finished look, similar to my highchair tutu.  The final step was to slip the tutu onto the planter and trim along the sides to even out the tutu.  I placed it on top of our large clay pot, which I knew would be the perfect size because we had used it for our Christmas tree planter.

I also had to create a garden flag to go beside it.  If you've been around for a while you know that I have a knack for finding way to make everything no sew.  Our garden flag is no exception and it makes it super easy to personalize for any holiday or special event.  You can find out just how easy it is here.  Plus, since I want you to be able to make your own, you can download the free printable here
