Creating a fun birthday party is something that I love to do, but at the end of the day it can become expensive even if you are doing everything yourself. Over the years my Parties have definitely scaled down a bit. I try to focus on at least one cute dessert, an activity and a craft of some sort. For our Art Party I made sure to focus on these aspect of our kids birthday party ideas.
Kids Birthday Party Ideas: An Art Party
One of my favorite ways to plan a party is based around a television series that Riley or Avery is really into at that time. For Riley's fourth birthday she absolutely loved anything princesses so we had a Shabby Chic Princess Party, which included Magic Wand Fruit Kabobs , Princess Necklaces and so much more. This time around though Riley and Avery were both enamored with Creative Galaxy. If you haven't seen it before then you need to. It is seriously so cute and is all about inspiring kids through art. Plus, to give kids and parents the real-life tools they need to re-create Arty's experience, a live-action piece at the end of each animated episode takes viewers through the craft project that Arty showcased in the galaxy.
We started off by streaming the episodes through our Amazon Prime Instant Video account, which if you have an Amazon Prime account then you have access to all of the Amazon Prime Instant Videos. Mind blown, right?!
During the screening of an episode I served up some of my Painter's Popcorn, which is super easy to make and the kids just love it. You can find the inspiration for the recipe HERE. You can seriously alter this recipe to work with just about any candy or snacks that you have in the house though. So fun and easy!
After the kids finished their Painter's Popcorn and watched the live action piece of the art project from the episode, we headed into the dining room to create the craft. The video made it easy for the kids to understand what they needed to do, which made my job so much easier because I didn't need to keep repeating myself to each child. The kids loved making their bowling pins and even loved it more when they were able to knock them down.
I am a bit partial for my love of Creative Galaxy. Not just because it promotes art as an integral part of development, but also because it is from Angela Santomerro, the maker of Super Why? and Blue's Clues. Plus, the voice of Sketch in Creative Galaxy is Jason Priestley. Yes, Jason Priestley from 90210. Clearly, Riley was not impressed with him, but it took all my strength to calmly take this picture and not jump in front of Riley and take a selfie with him at the premiere showing in NYC.
I'm pretty sure that if Epiphany was at the premiere Riley would have been more excited. Epiphany is just as cute as she looks in this cookie. Although, you probably can't get past the big grin on Riley's face. She was so excited that she got to eat an Epiphany at the event and then bring one home to eat too.

My little nephew really loves art, and his birthday is coming up. I wonder if he would be interested in doing a party like this. It would be really fun for him and his friend to decorate cookies or cupcakes of their own.
