Joe and I have quickly realized that getting out for the night is difficult, but we continue to try to come up with fun Date Night Ideas. If we thought getting out for a night was difficult, well then getting away is just about impossible. Luckily, Groupon made it easier for us and for the first time I stepped foot in California. Thanks to Groupon Getaways we spent an amazing six days on a San Diego Couples Getaway enjoying the spa and golf at Omni La Costa Spa & Resort.
San Diego Couples Getaway
Joe grew up in California and has always been referred to as the California kid even as an adult. He just has an air about him, I guess. He was thrilled that he was finally going to be able to show me where he grew up. I, on the other hand, was thrilled to know that I was going to get out of the snow. I mean a girl can only take so much. We found a fabulous deal through Groupon Getaways at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, CA, which was about 20 minutes from San Diego. We took advantage of the world class spa and enjoyed massages and access to the Spa grounds for the rest of the day. This massaging stone walkway was an absolutely stunning attribute of the outdoor gardens, which also included a pool and massaging waterfall showers.
The spa was an all day experience that we both enjoyed. Not only was the garden pool absolutely gorgeous, but the indoor pool and steam room was another relaxing aspect of the spa. We enjoyed our terry cloth robes and sipped on water infused with oranges. Plus, we were able to grab lunch at the cafe that was part of the spa. It was definitely a relaxing and invigorating experience that I am so glad we got to share together.
Not only does the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa boast a world class spa, but it also has two eighteen hole championship courses. The course was beautifully landscaped and the Bloody Mary's were delicious. I had some great drives, but I just loved having the day to spend doing one of Joe's favorite things to do. I mean, playing golf was written into his wedding vows. No joke!
One of my favorite parts of the course was the tunnel before the sixth hole. It was almost surreal driving through the tunnel and coming out the other side. Being in that tunnel felt like the long, miserable winter we had and coming out into the sunshine took my breath away. It made me think to pinch myself that I was enjoying 90 degree weather in zero humidity.
The eighteenth hole finished facing towards the resort. It was paradise. The Omni La Costa Resort & Spa was the perfect couples getaway just outside of San Diego that gave Joe and I the opportunity to relax and reconnect before the craziness of our big move. Yep, you read that right. The NY Melrose Family will no longer be situated in NY. We'll be giving the full details soon!
