I have received information, product and materials from McNeil Consumer Pharmaceuticals Co., the makers of PEPCID®. The opinions stated are my own. This is a sponsored post with Mom It Forward Blogger Network.
As many of you know I have worked hard since May 1st to get back into my pre-baby shape. I have done all while in the midst of a move from NY to NC so there have definitely been some set backs. Starting on May 1st I did the 21 Day Fix program and saw a loss of 10 lbs and 7.5 inches. We moved June 1st so during that time I stuck to the 21 Day Fix eating plan while doing a hybrid program of 21 Day Fix and piyo. I'm now on my third week of 21 Day Fix Extreme and I've learned a ton about how to survive eating out while on the 21 Day Fix that I thought others might find helpful.
5 Tips for Eating Out on the 21 Day Fix
Not only was I stressing over the move and all that had to get done in order for it to happen {did I mention my husband was already down in NC while I finished up my teaching position and took care of the girls all while packing a house}, but I decided it was the perfect time to change my eating habits and put in place an exercise routine. Luckily I quickly learned how to choose items off of the menu that fell into a container or two because I had the opportunity to participate in restaurant week via Tastemakers and the PEPCID® brand. Something to keep in mind is that I am a true foodie through and through. I love my food and all the amazing flavors that are out there so I couldn't turn down this amazing opportunity.
Tip #1: Choose the time of day that you head to a restaurant. I find that I'm much better about choosing wisely for breakfast. I believe this is largely due to the fact that eggs are the easiest way to get in your protein without wondering about what was added to it. During restaurant week we went for brunch and I went with the Farmhouse Tacos, which had the perfect amount of spice and veggies thrown in.
Tip #2: Skip on the extra that you don't need. Clearly, this would have been 3 yellows because of the tacos so the last on the last taco I skipped the taco and ate the eggs with a fork.
Tip #3: Just because it comes with a side doesn't mean you need to eat it. My farmhouse tacos came with a side of potatoes, but it was just as easy to hand them off to a willing partner. She's too cute not to hand over the extra carbs to.
Tip #3: Add some spice to your palate. Sometimes the meals that I find myself making at home to stick to the eating plan don't always include a ton of spice so on our breakfast outing for restaurant week I made sure to go with a spicy Sante Fe Omelet. You know it's spicy when it burns just a bit. Burn so good right? Clearly, that's not only meant for leg day.
Tip #5: Be prepared for the indigestion that is likely to occur. Luckily, PEPCID COMPLETE™ works quickly and lasts all day long. My lack of spice in my everyday eating made PEPCID COMPLETE™ an absolute necessity. I always find that heartburn after a meal at a restaurant can have the tendency to taint your view of that restaurant. PEPCID COMPLETE™ allowed me to keep my view of that particular restaurant intact and in good standing.
