I’m not quite ready to head back to school yet, but I’ve been ankle deep unpacking boxes at my new school so I thought it was time to get myself in a whimsical mood about school. The season of back to school always reminds me of the movie, “You’ve Got Mail” with Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks. I love the scene where Fall is described as needing to receive a bouquet of sharpened pencils. I thought I’d create the next best thing for our dining room table centerpiece. I used an old bud vase, pencils, eraser caps and ribbon. I tied it all together with a wooden school bus glued onto the front. Nothing says school like a bright, yellow bus and as you probably saw from my Leapfrog Touch Magic Bus Review, Riley loves school buses.
I just love the eraser caps! They remind me of all the bright school supplies that my students will be bringing into school at the beginning of the school year.
We try to eat the majority of our meals together at our dining room table and I just love walking in to sit down and seeing these. I actually start to get excited about the upcoming year. Although I love my summers with Riley, I start to look forward to the change in the season and the way the students and faculty approach the beginning of the school year. There’s always a clean slate when you start the school year. This year I have a huge clean slate. My elementary school closed last year so I’m starting in a new school, which is double the size of my old one. I have a whole new staff and a lot more students to get to know. I was at my former elementary school for six years and I knew every student in my school by name. I want to walk into my new school just as bright and shiny as these eraser caps. Ready to work and inspire!
I had to give you the full shot of the table because I just love the place mats that I found. They’re owls! Love! I tied the centerpieces and the place mats all in by using the orange ribbon. I’m definitely ready for fall. Who’s with me?

No that is too CUTE! I am going to make one today!
So stinkin’ cute! And I love those owl placemats!
Thanks for your post. I also feel that laptop computers have grown to be more and more popular currently, and now are usually the only sort of computer used in a household. The reason is that at the same time that they’re becoming more and more very affordable, their working power is growing to the point where they are as potent as personal computers coming from just a few years ago.
I got what you intend, thanks for putting up.Woh I am pleased to find this website through google. “Food is the most primitive form of comfort.” by Sheila Graham.
I used to love getting crayons, and pencils and glue when I started school……40 years later, and I am still buying myself crayons, glue and pencils for my crafting! Love your centerpiece idea. The colored erasers are a great touch!
I have seen lots of useful factors on your web site about pcs. However, I’ve got the thoughts and opinions that lap tops are still less than powerful sufficiently to be a good selection if you generally do jobs that require lots of power, including video touch-ups. But for world wide web surfing, statement processing, and most other frequent computer functions they are all right, provided you can’t mind the small screen size. Appreciate sharing your opinions.

Those are too cute!
Very cute! My neice just rode the bus for the first time. She would be so excited to have a setup like this! It’s amazing how much those little colored erasers really pop!
What a hoot…get it, because of your owl place mats? What a cute centerpiece. I bet it makes Riley wish she could go to school
Ahh, I love it! I have to admit helping to organize my sisters school supplies really got me excited for the fall semester- even though I’m only taking two online classes. Glad I found you through SITS.

Jenny I Love it!!! So cute and what a great little idea to make Back to School a Fun time!
Orchids, mimosa blossoms, parrot tulips and hydrangeas can be used for such earthy floral designs. Even the master bedroom needs a centerpiece that is a little less formal than one suited for a living room, and either amaryllis or dancing lady orchids may be the right flower to brighten the room. Several projects you began in that time are now paying rewards.
