Need the perfect burger for your next barbecue?  These Bacon Cheddar Ranch Burgers with Onion Strings are just what a crowd ordered.  These burgers are loved by my whole family {including my picky girls} thanks to Johnsonville Grillers.

Need the perfect burger for your next barbecue These Bacon Cheddar Ranch Burgers with Onion Strings are just what a crowd ordered.

Johnsonville is a brand that makes an appearance two to three times a week in my house.  Johnsonville sausage was the first meat that both of my girls would eat.  We use Johnsonville sausage in everything from pasta to rice dishes to my now famous Carolina Slaw Dogs with a Twist.  So when I found out that Johnsonville makes a pork patty I was a little excited.  Neither one of my girls will eat hamburgers, but they gobbled up their Johnsonville Grillers.  It's the perfect way to get to enjoy National Burger Day on May 28th.

For our burgers I chose Johnsonville Grillers Cheddar Cheese and Bacon Flavor.  You could see the cheese and bacon right in the patty.  I personally love to combine cheddar cheese, bacon and ranch as you all know very well from my Bacon Ranch Pasta.  There's just something about the creaminess of the ranch combined with the salty flavor of the bacon that is the perfect flavor combination for me.  Johnsonville Grillers also come in Swiss Cheese and Mushroom or Original Bratwurst.  I can't wait to try all the flavors this Summer.

These definitely did not disappoint.  Especially since we topped the Bacon Cheddar Ranch Burger with homemade fried onion strips.  They gave just a little bit of spice and crunch that I was looking for.

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes
Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • 4 Johnsonville Grillers Cheddar Cheese & Bacon Burgers
  • 4 slices Bibb lettuce
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • handful of fried onion strings
  • 4 potato hamburger rolls
  • 1 onion sliced into thin rings
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tbp white vinegar
  • 1 cup flour
  • pinch of salt
  • pinch of pepper
  • pinch of cayenne pepper
  • 1-2 cups canola oil

Instructions

  • For the Fried Onion Strings:
In a shallow baking dish combine the milk and white vinegar.
  • Lay the thin rings of onion into the baking dish so that all of the onions are covered. If necessary, add more milk so that they are covered.
  • In a separate bowl combine the flour, salt, pepper and cayenne pepper and mix well.
In a deep pot pour in the canola oil so that you have about 3-4 inches of the bottom of the pot covered in oil. Heat the oil to 220F.
  • With a fork take the onion rings and place them in the flour mixture to cover and then place them into the oil to fry.
Remove once they are golden brown.
Continue this process for all of the rings and place on a paper towel lined plate.
  • For the burgers:
Grill the Johnsonville Grillers Cheddar Cheese and Bacon burgers for 6-8 minutes on each side.
  • Top with a slice of cheddar cheese just before pulling them off the grill so that the cheese melts.
  • On a potato bun place a piece of Bibb lettuce and the burger on top.
Place a dollop of Ranch dressing on top of the burger and top with the fried onion strings.
    Serve immediately.
