Family Cleaning Tips

July 21, 2014 by Jenny Leave a Comment

As you've probably seen I firmly believe in getting my family involved in everything from cooking in the kitchen to party planning for our next event.  When it comes to cleaning our house I put my best foot forward, but it often falls short.  I can absolutely not claim to be an expert when it comes to cleaning.  It's just not something that I enjoy.  I'd rather do 100 loads of laundry than dust.  In order to keep the peace in our house where my husband loves a clean house and vacuums everyday {I know, I'm one lucky girl}, we have definitely found Family Cleaning Tips that are simple to follow and keep everyone happy.

Decide what rooms are most important to you to be clean.  My husband would immediately say that the living room is most important to him.  I definitely would agree with this during the school year, but when I'm home over the Summer and on the weekends I'd have to say our bedroom.  Our house only has two bedrooms and with the arrival of Avery in May of 2013 we all needed to get used to the idea of giving up our space.  Avery was in our room for the first two months and then moved in with Riley, which did not work out because Avery didn't sleep through the night until she was six months and even then it was sporadic so she consistently woke Riley up.  Riley moved in with us for a good six months so when we were finally able to get the girls in the room together and get our room back, it became doubly important to me.

Declutter high traffic areas to make it easier to clean.  This tip is all my husband.  He can't stand clutter in our living room which is the room that we spend the most time in.  He's famous for hiding the clutter in the closets, which definitely drives me crazy.  In order to resolve this issue, I put together 5 Tips to Declutter that help me keep the closets organized after the high traffic areas are decluttered by my husband.

Swiffer Effect of Duster

Find cleaning tools that work best for you and your house.  We have a ton of wood pieces of furniture that collect dust like no other. We also have cathedral ceilings in our bedroom with a ceiling fan that often goes uncleaned for months.  Gross, I know!  Luckily, we received a #BigGreenBox from Swiffer that included the lifesaving, Duster Kit as well as Duster refills with Gain.  Can we just say amazing scent!  It fills the room and stays for quite a while.  The box also included a Sweeper kit that included the wet cloths that are perfect for quickly mopping our kitchen floor, which my husband was all over.  Our family definitely felt the #SwifferEffect.

Get the kiddos involved!  The great thing about Swiffer products is that they are so easy to use that the kids can use them without supervision.  To get you started with some easy cleaning tips be sure to check here.  Keeping your house should definitely be a family affair that keeps everyone happy, which is why we passed on a Big Green Box to our neighbors that Riley was the flower girl in their wedding two years ago.   They are now a family of three with the arrival of Baby Stella this past April, actually make that four and you'll see why.

I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls Collective and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.
