Easy Burlap Wreath

After getting compliments from my neighbors on the first wreath I ever made, my Simple Thankful Wreath, I thought I'd give it a try for Christmas as well.  I was inspired by the Pear Ornament made by a pumpkin & a princess and tweaked it to make it an easy burlap wreath.

The supplies for this wreath consist of:

  • Straw wreath
  • Bakers Twine
  • Burlap Ribbon
  • Floral Pins
  • Dollar Store bells
  • Pear Ornament inspiration by a pumpkin & a princess
  • Tiger eye glitter
  • Poinsettia Clip on flower
  • Gold glitter ribbon
My first step was to take a pear from the dollar bin at Michaels and cover it with swirled motions of glue.  I then covered the glue with the Tiger eye glue and let it dry.  Meanwhile, I wrapped the burlap ribbon around the straw wreath and pinned it down with floral pins.  I then strung bakers twine through the gold bells from the Dollar Store and pinned the twine down with the floral pins.  I placed the gold glitter ribbon in a large bow with the poinsettia clip on flower in the center of the bow.  Once the glittered pear was dry, I hot glued red ribbon on top of the pear.  The final step was to add the pear to the wreath, which I did by putting a floral pin through the red ribbon.

I love the way the pear turned out.  The swirls of the glue created a textured look in the glitter and the color wasn't too bold.  The glitter catches the morning sunlight so well.  It definitely puts me into the Christmas mood.

This was the first year I didn't go with a traditional wreath on our front door and I'm glad I took the leap of faith.  Do you usually go with a traditional wreath or do you like to take a leap too?

I usually go with the traditional wreath, but I love the simplicity of yours. That pear is such a statement piece.
