I don’t know about you, but December has flown by. I can’t believe that Christmas is in less than a week! I’ve been trying to get my last minute gifts together for everyone and I’m pretty much done. I wanted something I could make in a canning jar for my neighbor gifts. An Apple Pie in a Jar jumped into mind. If you’ve been around for a while, you’re aware of my recent obsession with any and everything apple (Apple Pie, Mini Apple Pies & Apple Pie Cupcakes). These Apple Pies in a Jar were a snap to put together and they’re super yummy {yep, I stole a bite or um…ten}.
I used the same exact recipe that I did in my Homemade Apple Pie Recipe. The only difference is that I divided up the crust, filling and topping into the six different canning jars to make my Apple Pie in a Jars. I added a cute ribbon with a sparkle Christmas ornament and a spoon. I hope they love it!

Wow! These look so yummy! I am sure your neighbor’s will be eternally grateful.
I have a TON of small mason jars and this is the perfect idea!
If you are in apple pie mode, check out my latest apple pie… It’s my new favorite! It’s chock full of caramel and pecans with a graham cracker crust. No rolling dough! Mhmm… just thinking about it makes me want to go grab a slice right now…

Thanks so much Lindsey. I’ll be sure to stop over and check it out.
Hi Jenny, I’m sure they are going to love it…:) homemade gifts are always so much better because they take time and care…xo
Thanks so much Lucy! I love the recipe so I hope they will too.
I’m sure they will LOVE it! It looks so good! I wanna make a pie now:)
I often feel like I can eat pie at any moment. Lol!
Such a cute idea! I would love to get this gift so I definitely gotta add it to my list for gift giving ideas. I like how you added the sparkly apple to the packaging!
Thanks so much Janine! It was definitely a hit. The apple ornament worked well because I used some of the apple pies in a jar for my teacher colleagues.
Great idea!
such a cute idea, i love it!
Hi Jenny, You must know how one link leads to another and another….I don’t know how I ended up on your blog but I suspect it had something to do with the apple pie in a jar! Funny, it was posted on my birthday too. I’m not much of a cook, my fiance will confirm that, but I do try and I feel like I do pretty well. I think the “in a jar” idea is a great one for simple, thoughtful and personal gifts. Do you make it and then simply split it out in servings? Sounds great. I’m going to be on the lookout for the same size jars you used. You have a beautiful family! Happy New Year! Joanne Ryan of Amesbury, MA
Joanne,
That was such a sweet comment that you left. I actually make the jars as individual servings. I press a pre-made crust into the jar and then add the apple filling and top with the cinnamon sugar topping. I was very similar to you before I got married with not knowing my way in the kitchen. Thank you again so much for leaving such a sweet comment. Stop back over any time!
Jenny
You know I love jars! This is perfect Jenny!
